In this project, I designed a tote bag illustration for Banzha, connecting the restaurant’s food, its owner’s roots, and the character of Bergen.

Owner Michelle comes from Yunnan, a region in China known for its mushrooms. Her dishes combine the food culture of her hometown with Norwegian ingredients. Inspired by this, I transformed mushrooms into umbrellas, a familiar sight in rainy Bergen.

The design brings together Michelle’s hometown and the city where Banzha is based. I wanted the bag to tell the restaurant’s story while also offering visitors a distinctive souvenir of Bergen.
